Thanks

Happy Mother’s Day, crafters! I have my version of a CAS card for you today. Here’s the recipe: Create a stamp pad using various dots of Distress Inkers and a Cut-And-Dry Foam Stamp pad.

Use your stamp pad to stamp the flowers on white card stock. Cut a border and sentiment out of a coordinating color. Assemble and you are ready to send it out.

The color palette I chose is based on what I call a round “glow candle.” Anyone remember these? Let me know in the comments below.

Have a great week!

Sending a Smile

Happy Thursday, crafters! A little mixed media tag sending a smile your way.

Here’s the recipe for my bold and enchanting creation. The combination of Villanous Potion and Wilted Violet as the background sets a mysterious tone, enhanced by the stamped text in black ink and white embossing. Smudging the edges with Black Soot and Picket Fence adds depth and contrast.

Coloring the stamps with Villanous Potion, Wilted Violet, and Worn Lipstick brings them to life against the dark backdrop. The addition of sparkly black Stickles along the border of the stamps adds a touch of magic and intrigue.

Embossing the charm with Villanous Potion Embossing Glaze gives it a striking finish, tying it in with the rest of the design. And the sentiment, adorned with a tiny heart, adds a sweet touch to balance the darkness.

Finally, the mixture of ribbons brings everything together, adding texture and dimension to the piece. A wonderfully crafted creation with a perfect blend of darkness and charm!

You Make the World Better

Greetings, fellow crafters! The weekend is here, and I’m thrilled to introduce you to my latest creation: a single-layer card set with a pop of rainbow vibrance. This matching card and envelope ensemble is crafted using only a single ink pad and a touch of watercolor magic. Let’s dive into the joy of simplicity and creativity together!

Materials Needed:

  • Strathmore Bristol smooth cardstock for the card; Black/Black cardstock for the base of the card, 20lb 11×17 white paper for the envelope, 20lb copy paper for envelope lining
  • Black Soot Archival Ink
  • Tim Holtz Watercolor Pencils
  • StampersAnonymous Stamps (CMS 465 The Inspector,CMS446 Noteworthy,CMS448 Eccentric,CMS395 The Professor,CMS391 Scenic Holiday, CMS 323 Holiday Postmarks)

In this project, I utilized the versatile Memory Misting stamping platform, boasting a generous 12×12 size ideal for creating expansive stamped backgrounds with ease. Securing my cardstock onto the platform with a simple piece of tape, I arranged my stamps and started on some stamping fun, employing a second-generation technique for a soft, layered effect across both the card background and envelope.

Once the ink dried, it was time to bring our beloved Inspector to life. With a rainbow spectrum of pencils, I colored the stamp with pencils directly on the platform, misted it lightly, and pressed down, infusing the design with vibrant hues. A heartfelt sentiment was then delicately stamped onto the card, followed by assembly to complete the charming creation.

As a final touch, the envelope received special attention with first and second-generation stamping for added intrigue. I created a simple rainbow lining to complement the joyful theme by printing a generic *.jpg using my trusty HP and meticulously cutting it to size. With each detail carefully crafted, this project radiates creativity and warmth.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Please remember that

You make the world a better place just by being in it.

Naughty Little Kitties

Happy Sunday, Friends. This will be a short post, but I’ll be back soon to update it. I had mixed media mornings the past 2 days working on this card. Soooo much fun. It all started with an ink & paint background. I then dove into my stash of paper scraps that were previously inked to find colors that would work for the cups & saucers. My cats and sentiment are simply plain paper. The cats’ eyes are Nuvo drops in black & green. Hope you enjoy it!

Challenges entered: Park Hopping My Happy Place (cats of Disneyland, teacup ride), Critter Crazy Challenge, Double Trouble Challenge (stash paper & blue in the background & teacup),NBUS (this is my first use of the teacup die set),Tic Tac Toe Challenge (I used a stencil to help make the background, die cuts for the cats & cups, critter), Christmas [or not] BINGO Challenge (N: purple, black, free-diecut)

Oddly Creepy Cute

Hey there, crafty friends! TGIF! Today, I’m excited to share a project that’s as unique as it is adorable. Picture this: pastel hues, a touch of creepiness, and a whole lot of charm. Intrigued? Let’s dive into the details of this delightful creation!

Inspiration can come from the intrepid Mary Gunn FUNN, and for this particular card, it all began with a fascinating episode of Craft Roulette, 208. Taking cues from the parameters and creative challenges posed in the episode, I embarked on crafting a joy-fold card. My colors are from the horse and buggy from the Wizard of Oz and the “horse of a different color.” My sticks & stones, you ask? Well, the nurse’s legs are definitely stick-like and the green background paper is brick, a type of stone.

Materials Needed:

  • Pastel colored cardstock from the stask
  • Poison label embossing folder from Tim Holtz/Sizzix, Ice cream embossing folder of unknown origin
  • Quirky nurse stamp from the “Oddball” series by Stampingbella
  • Distress Oxide Inks (Salvaged Patina, SaltwaterTaffy,Lost Shadow, Black Soot)
  • Distress Paint in Saltwater Taffy
  • Clear Wink Of Stella

Step 1: Setting the Scene We’re starting with a twist right from the get-go. Instead of a typical card background, we’re using a combination of embossing folders and Distress sprays. Emboss with your icecream folder first. Then run the paper though the die cut machine to “flatten” this first embossing. Then spray with Salvaged Patina & Saltwater Taffy. Allow to dry. Emboss with the poison folder and brayer paint over the top. This unexpected backdrop adds a touch of whimsy to our project.

Step 2: Stamp in Style Now, onto the star of the show – our quirky nurse from the “Oddball” stamp series by Stampingbella. With her oversized eyes and playful demeanor, she’s the perfect blend of creepy and cute. Stamp her onto a piece of bristol-smooth cardstock using your favorite water-safe black ink; mine is Versafine Onyx Black. Color her using Distress inks and a water pen.

Step 3: Cut and Arrange Once your nurse is stamped, carefully cut her out using scissors or a Scan and Cut. Take your time with this step to ensure clean edges. Now, create your joy-fold base with white card stock and trim the patterned papers for the backdrops.

Step 4: Add Finishing Touches With your card assembled, it’s time to add those final touches. Consider embellishing your card with tiny details like stickers, sequins, or even a sprinkle of glitter for added whimsy. You could also add a quirky sentiment to tie everything together – something like “Get Well Soon…or Else!” or “A Dose of Cuteness to Brighten Your Day!” I have yet to add the sentiment as I plan to use this card for DD18b’s graduation card and am not quite sure of the wording I want to use; DD18b is starting college with plans to study nursing, and the whimsical nature of this card is her style.

And there you have it – a pastel-colored creepy cute card that’s sure to delight and surprise! Whether you’re sending it to a fellow crafter or keeping it as a quirky piece of art for yourself, this project is guaranteed to bring a smile to anyone’s face. So grab your supplies and let your imagination run wild!

Happy crafting!

Melts?

Greetings, lovely readers! April has rolled in, bringing with it a fresh breeze of excitement. My two challenge blogs, Park Hopping My Happy Place and the Colorful Options Challenge, have similar colors this month. I have departed from cards this month and embellished some adorable Sanrio stationary with wax seals instead.

This month, Park Hopping My Happy Place is inspired by the whimsical world of Sanrio. However, here’s the twist – it’s an “anything goes” challenge, drawing inspiration from the enchanting realm of theme parks.

The Colorful Options Challenge is challenging us to use a pastel palette this month.
